Update on our Love :)

My wife sent this note out to our family: She is the best Mom I could have ever asked for to our son:

Hello Everyone, We wanted to give you an update on Colin, and thank all of you for your positive thoughts and prayers that you have sent our way. We had an appointment on Friday with the Hematology/Oncology Dr.'s. They were really great with Colin and assured us that they don't see anything that is pointing to any type of cancer. They are also reassured by the fact that Colin doesn't look or act sick. He is growing developmentally and physically like a weed! However, they do want to do a bone marrow biopsy. The Dr.'s want to make sure that there is nothing "hiding" in Colin's bone marrow that could be causing his daily fever. He has had a fever at some point during the day or night for the past 7 weeks. The Dr.'s scheduled the bone marrow biopsy for December 1st. It is an outpatient procedure, and he will be completely asleep. We are confident in their skill and knowledge, but we ask you to pray for all the Dr.'s and technicians as they perform this procedure on Colin. We also ask that you pray for Colin's quick recovery. The Dr.'s are also going to do a full body CT scan under sedation, but that has not been scheduled yet.

Update

Colin went back to his music class today. Leilani said he was so
excited. I find myself singing to him all the time, making up songs as
I go along. I am sure that's gonna get old at some point but ..... :)

We are waiting to see hematolgy/oncology at UCLA about the fever and
have a follow up with his immuneologists in a few weeks.

We just keep plugging along- our Christmas cards should be ready soon
though! I think the two of them will look adoreable and I have a
chance of looking like Santa.

In my defense the sweater was bulky!

Eye doctor

Our little guy Saturday night waiting for a two hour long appointment
with an eye doctor. That was one of the tough ones. Little boys do not
like three rounds of drops in their eyes at 4 drops per eye ! Yikes!
And they hate to be held down- boy can Colin fight. We found nothing
wrong- bloodwork is still good-leaning away from JRA at last check. We
are going to get our GI doc from his hospital stays back involved. Say
a prayer if you can spare one.

To top it off the dog got her cone off and tried taking out her own
stitches-
"Dear Mr. Jesus......I'm still hanging in there" :)

Our Peter Pan

This is our little Peter Pan: Colin

I can not even begin to explain how much this blessing has changed our lives. The love you have for your child is simply one of the most magical spells ever to be cast. If you read this blog on a regular basis you know that Colin has had some tough times in these first 18 months. Three major hospital stays, several urgent cares, CT scans, X-rays, specialists, ER's, etc. BUT through all of this we have a happy little boy that just wants to throw his toys in our small fish pond.

We were back at the Hospital the other day, this time UCLA Medical. One thing I feel like pointing out is the doctors and nurses whose calling leads them to pediatrics. Many times you find specialists outside of Pediatrics that may be territorial or so sure of their diagnosis that they are not the most willing to get a consult or look elsewhere for an answer. In Pediatrics I have noticed no one cares who figures it out, they just want to make your child better. There are no bragging rights in this world...just two little eyes looking at the adults asking for help.

I think I am writing now just for personal relief :) I just want him to be better. I have about five more minutes at work and I can leave....I am sure the teardrops on my keyboard will dry in a few minutes. It is better to cry in private and through the anonymity of the internet.
