Last Night

Here is Colin on the way home from dinner with mom and dad.

Suddenly I have awakened from my 'slumber' to see a small boy enjoying
his own in the back of our car. What happened to that little baby ?

The Review-Iron Man

OK I watched it. Leilani fell asleep for some of it-anyway here we go.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME ? HE BUILT A SUIT IN SOME TALIBAN CAVE AND FINISHED OFF SOME CRAZY ATOMIC SPACE LIKE WARP DRIVE WHATEVER?

Willing suspension of disbelief... I went to that "well" every ten minutes, at one point I felt like that little kid that fell down the well. It's funny as I write this I was actually going to review the acting-but wait a minute that was not the point of the movie to show some great acting skills from some talented actors. The movie also kind of dragged at some points, mainly between the opening scene and um....the credits.

By the way those tech specs he wrote on Egyptian papyrus.....c'mon.

Anyway great flick-really enjoyed the action scenes.

Rumors in the air like a thief in the night..

There are rumors of a movie at our house tonight. Right now it is just whispers but they have been flying around all day. Colin is asleep and Leilani is hopping in the shower. I have next to me on “blu-ray” the movie “Iron Man.”  The one thing that stands in the way of this event is sleep.  It tends to sneak up on you. If you do not prepare to battle it, well “it get’s late early out there.”

You must make the decision to try and stay up to see the movie AND not fall asleep going into it.  Saying to yourself and your wife “let’s give it a go” does not work for parents of toddler’s whose dreams are often fantasies of slumber themselves…

I am unwrapping the DVD now. We are doing this. This will happen. This is my hill and I stand at the ready, resolute in my battle against this creature of the night.

……but I am just a wee bit sleepy….damn you red wine!

Oh God it might as well be hemlock I am doomed.

TUNE IN TOMORROW: SAME CHANNEL: SAME TIME: DID THEY STAY AWAKE? DID THEY LIKE THE MOVIE? DID ANYONE CARE ABOUT THIS BLOG POST? AND WHY ARE THESE DAMN DVD PACKAGES SO HARD TO OPEN ?

Colin Loves Balloons

Colin loves this balloon he has been chasing it around the kitchen all night. Balloon, balloon, balloon, balloon, balloon-we love balloons! It is a catchy song if you could hear it. Poor baby has a fever and still just loves to play. Yup today was another shot day, DTP and HIB so much fun. After all the pokes kids get it is amazing they still talk to us.

Am I a Nerd ?

It may be a sign of some sorts…my age maybe coming into play, a desire to find some peaceful “Zen” like moments ?  Nonetheless I am sitting here with a book on Knots and Ropework.  Bends, loops, hitches and whippings-here I come.  I guess as we get older we do look for a hobby of some account. Not sure this will be mine, as in the end as I have clearly taken a break to inform you of my noble endeavor. An endeavor in which  any boy who paid attention in Boy Scouts would clearly have a leg up on me.  I do think my point is simple. As we get older it is important to try new things, new hobbies or ones renewed.  Reading and learning as often as we can.  I think all of us have had that sensation that “life” is on the fast-track, so why not take a pause for something that entertains the intellect? And after finishing “The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Knots and Ropework”  I am convinced that I will be able to teach my son Colin to tie his shoe…or at least tie up his toy boats the to the tub faucet.

Small Things

It amazes me sometimes how the smallest things can make your day.  Colin is 16 months this week and today he just made me smile so big :)  I mean think about yours and mine-here he is just roughly 480 days into this world and he has grown so much.  Conversely I am well over 14,600 days and feel I have so much to learn.  This moment I speak of comes from Colin’s desire to go play in the backyard after dinner, a bit of a nightly ritual at our house.  We both have matching “Croc’s” so I asked him to go get his shoes so we could go outside.  He walked out of the kitchen into the bedroom, went to his shoebox and came back with the matching “Croc’s”.  I was so proud.  Work can be tiresome, the economy can be taxing, and life can throw you those ever demanding curveballs, but every now and then you have a moment.  Kelly Clarkson really had no idea when she sang that song how many moment's life can truly have……and I hope there are so many more.
